It’s Still a Trap! Yes, Admiral Ackbar Returns in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
Admiral Ackbar, whose cry of “It’s a trap!” in “Return of the Jedi” launched a thousand Internet memes, will indeed appear in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” as the Comic-Con International sizzle reel teased.
Tim Rose, who played the Mon Calamari military commander in the 1983 film, confirms he’ll reprise that role in the hotly anticipated sequel, but admits he finds the cloak of secrecy surrounding the project “very frustrating.”
“Out of the need to be secret, we’re not actually able to get everything we need to do our jobs as well as we could,” the veteran actor and puppeteer told
The Australian. “And as someone who has been doing it for 35 years, I find it very frustrating.”
Rose’s comments echo sentiments
recently expressed by franchise mainstay Anthony Daniels, who lamented, “The secrecy has been beyond ludicrous … For heaven’s sake, it’s a movie.”
“When I got the script, it was typed in black on paper of the deepest red so you couldn’t photocopy it,” added Daniels, who’s appeared in every “Star Wars” film. “I got a hangover just reading it.”
