Sad news on the search for a 14-year-old boy swept to sea off the coast today.​
Coastguards launched a helicopter and lifeboat search off Newhaven, East Sussex, after the teenager was dragged away by huge waves at around 4.15pm.​
A tweet from the local RNLI team at around 10pm said: "All teams searching off Newhaven have now been stood down by HM Coastguard, our thoughts go to the boys family and friends at this sad time."​
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said the operation has now become one of search and recovery.​
