La relación creador-homúnculo es muy estrecha, con una gran empatía que permite al creador saber si el homúnculo está triste, herido, furioso o alegre. Suelen desarrollar también un cierto grado de telepatía.

Estos seres se alimentan de la sangre de su creador y necesitan beberla todos los días al menos 3 veces. Para succionar la sangre perforan el pezón de su amo y se alimentan durante la noche, mientras éste duerme.

Si el creador muere, el homúnculo también lo hace, ya que sólo la sangre de su amo puede alimentar al diminuto ser.
