Hello Francisco,
Thank you for writing us about the PlayStation®Store being available in your region of Chile. Sony Computer Entertainment America, LLC (SCEA) has not released any details concerning the development referenced in your email about the PS Store in Chile. SCEA and its affiliated companies are regularly engaged in extensive research and development in many areas of the computer entertainment industry. Please keep in mind that each region have their own regulation and restrictions that prevents us from fully offering all or most PlayStation®Network services to regions like Chile among others. We do not have any information that will override these territorial restrictions and we apologize for any inconvenience. Hence, we cannot comment on future PlayStation® developments, projects, or products. We appreciate your enthusiasm and continued interest in our products, and hope you understand our position. You may however, visit the PlayStation® blog for Latin America at http://blog.latam.playstation.com/ and view our current press releases and future updates.
However, a PlayStation®3 system or PSP® system from one region has the ability to access the PlayStation Store for another region, however, the PlayStation Network account must have a valid mailing address within that foreign region. Additionally, if you wish to purchase content from a specific region's PlayStation Store, you must have a credit card or debit card (with a VISA or MasterCard logo) with a billing address from the same region. Not all PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store content may operate as intended on a console that is from another region, (i.e., different language displayed, software titles may not be compatible, etc.). We do not have any information that will override these territorial restrictions and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Lastly, we cannot guarantee the functionality of the PS3™ system or PSP system and access to the PlayStation Network from outside of its designated region. The PS3™ system or PSP system and format software titles are only designed to run in the respective regions and countries for which it was intended. You may experience problems when you attempt to operate a system from outside its designated region and access the PlayStation Network.
I am sure that once the PS Store becomes available in Chile this information will be posted in our blog. I apologize that the PS Store among other services are not available in Chile, yet. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to email us back.
Regards,
Eberardo M.
