La idea de cerrar ciudades la saqué de un libro sobre los grandes levantamientos mapuches y huilliches cuando salieron a destruir las ciudades y los españoles para defenderse cerraron las ciudades bloqueando las calles, usando las construcciones como murallas y aprovechando las plazas como lugar de maniobras. Es decir, cumplirían la función de castillo o como las antiguas ciudades amuralladas
